Key Qualifications and Experience:

  • Valid teaching credentials with specialization in Visual Impairments or active eligibility to obtain certification
  • Experience working with K-12 students in a school setting, particularly those who are blind or visually impaired
  • Strong communication skills for collaborating with teachers, staff, and families
  • Ability to adapt curriculum materials and learning environments for diverse needs
  • Comfortable managing a flexible, itinerant schedule across multiple sites
  • Motivated professionals from outside the state are encouraged to apply—support is available for out-of-state candidates

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Deliver evidence-based instructional services to students with visual impairments across various grade levels
  • Assess student needs and create individualized educational plans in partnership with IEP teams
  • Train staff and consult on accessibility tools, assistive technology, and effective classroom strategies
  • Develop and modify curriculum materials for accessibility
  • Advocate for student inclusion, ensuring legal compliance and equal opportunities
  • Provide orientation and mobility support as appropriate
