Qualifications and Desired Experience:

• Valid certification or licensure as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired or Visually Impaired Teacher
• Experience working with students who are blind or have low vision in school-based settings
• Knowledge of Braille, adaptive technology, and instructional strategies for the visually impaired
• Strong communication, organizational, and collaboration skills
• Ability to adapt materials and curriculum to individual student needs
• Experience with IEP development and documentation preferred

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide direct instruction to students with visual impairments based on individual needs
• Conduct functional vision and learning media assessments
• Collaborate with general and special education staff to modify curriculum and ensure accessibility
• Support students with orientation and mobility skills in partnership with other professionals
• Develop and implement individualized educational plans in accordance with state and federal guidelines
• Consult and communicate effectively with families and caregivers
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation
