Teacher of Visually Impaired in Irving, TX

Make a difference in the lives of students by providing essential services as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired in an engaging, full-time, itinerant role. Responsibilities include:

• Deliver specialized instruction and support to students with visual impairments, across six campuses
• Assess student abilities and develop individualized education plans tailored to their unique needs
• Provide direct teaching in braille, low vision devices, adaptive technology, and orientation & mobility skills
• Consult regularly with classroom teachers and support staff, ensuring accommodations are in place and effective
• Participate in IEP meetings, providing progress updates and recommendations
• Adapt teaching materials and classroom environments to maximize accessibility
• Serve as a resource and advocate for visually impaired students and their families
• Support homebound students as part of your itinerant caseload

Candidates should bring:

• Active Texas State Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TSVI) licensure
• Passion for empowering K–12 students with visual impairments
• Previous experience as a TVI or similar role within school settings
• Proficiency with braille literacy and assistive technologies
• Strong communication and consultation skills; team-oriented approach
• Flexibility to serve a dynamic, shifting caseload and multiple campus sites

Schedule: Full-time, 37.5 hours per week during the school year (7.5 hours per day).
