Qualifications and Experience Desired:
- Current certification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI)
- Experience working with children who have visual impairments preferred
- Strong understanding of Braille, assistive technology, and adaptive instructional strategies
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
- Ability to create and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
- Familiarity with federal, state, and local regulations regarding special education services
Primary Responsibilities:
- Provide direct instruction and support to students with visual impairments across various grade levels
- Develop customized lesson plans and instructional materials to meet diverse student needs
- Collaborate with general education teachers, therapists, parents, and other professionals to ensure coordinated care and optimal learning outcomes
- Monitor and evaluate student progress, adapting interventions as needed to promote academic and personal growth
- Assist with orientation and mobility training, and technology integration to enhance independence
- Maintain thorough, timely, and compliant documentation of student services and progress
