Desired Qualifications:

• Valid teaching certification as Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI)
• Demonstrated experience working with students who are blind or visually impaired in educational settings
• Solid understanding of Braille instruction and assistive technology for the visually impaired
• Ability to conduct functional vision and learning media assessments
• Strong communication skills to collaborate with fellow teachers, families, and support staff
• Proven ability to develop and implement individualized educational plans (IEPs)
• Organized, proactive, and adaptable to changing environments

Core Responsibilities:

• Provide direct instruction and support to students with visual impairments, both one-on-one and in group settings
• Adapt and modify curriculum materials to accommodate individual student needs
• Conduct assessments to determine vision-related educational needs and document student progress
• Advocate for accessible learning environments and proper accommodations
• Collaborate closely with classroom teachers, related service providers, and families to develop holistic support strategies
• Participate in IEP meetings and contribute expertise regarding visually impaired learners
• Remain current with best practices and relevant instructional technology
