Key Qualifications:

• Active Louisiana Department of Education Certification, bachelor’s degree, and certification in visual impairment (required)
• At least 3 years of teaching experience in elementary, secondary, or special education settings
• Exceptional communication skills and the ability to motivate and collaborate with diverse school personnel
• Deep knowledge of assistive technology for visually impaired students, with capacity to train both students and fellow educators
• Proficiency in Braille instruction; familiarity with orientation and mobility training preferred
• Analytical skills for data-driven decision-making and problem-solving in support of student needs
• Professionalism, disciplined thinking, and the ability to balance competing responsibilities
• Reliable transportation and willingness to travel daily between school sites in the area

• Deliver direct services and instruction to visually impaired students across assigned schools
• Facilitate the acquisition of specialized textbooks and materials
• Consult and partner with general education teachers to ensure proper instructional preparations
• Provide ongoing in-service training for school staff regarding best practices for visually impaired students
• Maintain regular communication with the Louisiana Department of Education and perform tasks as assigned by the Director of IDEA
• Complete district-specific credentialing processes, including drug screen and fingerprinting
