Qualifications & Experience:
- Valid teaching certification for Visually Impaired students (TVI)
- Experience working with children who are blind or have low vision, in either individual or group settings
- Strong knowledge of Braille, assistive technology, adaptive tools, and orientation and mobility concepts
- Ability to develop and implement IEPs in collaboration with multidisciplinary teams
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Compassionate, patient, and adaptable approach to teaching diverse learners
Responsibilities:
- Assess students' needs and strengths, recommending and delivering customized instructional strategies
- Teach core academic content utilizing Braille, tactile graphics, and adaptive resources
- Integrate technology and assistive devices into daily lessons
- Provide consultation and training to other educational staff and families
- Advocate for student accommodations and accessibility within the broader school setting
- Maintain timely and accurate documentation, progress reports, and IEP-related paperwork
- Foster a safe, supportive, and motivating classroom environment
