Step into a rewarding contract opportunity supporting students with visual impairments for the 2026-2027 academic year. This onsite, part-time role offers the chance to make a lasting difference for learners who need specialized instruction in a supportive environment. You'll be engaged with a caseload of eight students, providing a mix of weekly, monthly, and quarterly service minutes that total approximately 15 hours each week.
Key Qualifications:
- Valid Washington Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) certification required
- Must complete fingerprinting through the Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction (OSPI)
- Demonstrated experience or coursework in teaching students with visual impairments
- Strong communication, collaboration, and adaptive teaching skills
Role Responsibilities:
- Deliver individualized and group instruction to students with visual impairments, following each student's IEP or 504 Plan
- Develop and implement learning materials in accessible formats, utilizing Braille and adaptive technologies as needed
- Maintain accurate records of student progress, service minutes, and required documentation for compliance
- Collaborate with classroom teachers, special education teams, and families to support inclusive educational environments
- Conduct assessments, contribute to IEP meetings, and provide expertise on accessibility and accommodations
