Qualifications:
- Valid certification or endorsement as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired
- Prior experience working with students who are visually impaired preferred
- Strong knowledge of Braille, assistive technologies, and adaptive materials
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams, families, and school staff
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct and consultative special education services to students with visual impairments, tailoring instructional materials and strategies to each learner’s unique needs
- Conduct functional vision assessments and develop individualized education programs (IEPs) in collaboration with educational teams
- Train students in the use of Braille, assistive technology, mobility, and independent living skills
- Support classroom teachers by recommending adaptations and modifications to enhance access to the curriculum
- Participate in IEP meetings, parent conferences, and staff development to ensure continuous student progress
