Qualifications and Desired Experience:

• Valid teaching certification with Visual Impairment endorsement
• Experience working with students who are blind or have low vision (preferred)
• Strong knowledge of Braille instruction and adaptive technology for accessibility
• Ability to develop and modify instructional materials to accommodate individualized learning needs
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work closely with multidisciplinary teams
• Compassionate, patient, and dedicated to meeting diverse student needs

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver direct and consultative instruction to students with visual impairments across grade levels
• Conduct functional vision assessments and contribute to development and implementation of IEPs
• Adapt classroom materials, ensuring accessibility and equitable learning opportunities
• Provide orientation and mobility training to facilitate student independence
• Serve as a resource for fellow educators and families, advising on best practices and accessible resources
• Collaborate regularly with support staff, therapists, and administrators for holistic student support
• Participate in professional development to remain current with instructional strategies and technology
