This role offers a unique chance to work alongside a dedicated team, supporting up to 10 students with diverse needs in both in-person and virtual environments.
Desired Qualifications & Experience:
- Certification as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI); dual certification in Orientation and Mobility (O&M) highly valued
- Prior experience supporting students with visual impairments in educational settings
- Expertise in adapting curriculum and materials for a broad range of visual abilities
- Strong skills in creating interactive lessons using tactile, auditory, and multisensory approaches
- Ability to build rapport and engage students of all ability levels
Responsibilities:
- Deliver individualized vision support to students on a schedule averaging 10-12 hours per week; may increase to 18-20 hours with O&M services
- Develop and implement engaging, interactive lessons tailored for low-vision learners
- Utilize evidence-based strategies to foster participation and academic growth across various abilities
- Provide guidance on adaptive technologies, accessible materials, and instructional techniques
- Collaborate with school staff to ensure student needs are met through appropriate accommodations and materials; clarify supply responsibilities as needed
- If certified, deliver O&M instruction in-person or by employing innovative virtual methods
