Qualifications/Desired Experience:
- Valid certification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI)
- Previous teaching experience working with students with visual impairments preferred
- Strong knowledge of Braille and accessible technology resources
- Exceptional communication and organizational skills
- Ability to assess student needs and design appropriate interventions
- Collaborative approach when working with educators, support personnel, and families
Responsibilities:
- Provide direct and consultative services to students identified with visual impairments
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) in conjunction with the educational team
- Adapt instructional materials and classroom environments for accessibility
- Teach students in crucial skills such as Braille, orientation, mobility, and assistive technology use
- Assess student progress and maintain accurate documentation
- Serve as a resource for staff and families, offering training and support for best educational practices
- Stay current on developments in instructional strategies, technologies, and regulations relevant to visual impairment education
