Qualifications/Desired Experience:

• Valid certification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI)
• Previous teaching experience working with students with visual impairments preferred
• Strong knowledge of Braille and accessible technology resources
• Exceptional communication and organizational skills
• Ability to assess student needs and design appropriate interventions
• Collaborative approach when working with educators, support personnel, and families

Responsibilities:

• Provide direct and consultative services to students identified with visual impairments
• Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) in conjunction with the educational team
• Adapt instructional materials and classroom environments for accessibility
• Teach students in crucial skills such as Braille, orientation, mobility, and assistive technology use
• Assess student progress and maintain accurate documentation
• Serve as a resource for staff and families, offering training and support for best educational practices
• Stay current on developments in instructional strategies, technologies, and regulations relevant to visual impairment education
