Qualifications & Experience:

  • Certified Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) or equivalent credentials.
  • Experience delivering virtual instruction and support.
  • Proficiency in Braille (reading and writing), including instructional methods.
  • Prior background working with middle school students, especially those with new or progressing vision loss.
  • Strong communication skills for effective collaboration with students, families, and school staff.
  • Ability to provide both direct services (one-on-one instruction) and consultation to educators as needed.
  • Comfortable with digital accessibility tools and assistive technology.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide tailored virtual instruction in Braille to meet the student’s needs.
  • Develop and implement individualized learning strategies for a 7th grader adapting to vision loss.
  • Collaborate with educators, specialists, and family to support the student’s academic and social-emotional development.
