Qualifications & Desired Experience:
- Valid Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) certification
- Strong understanding of adaptive technology and Braille instruction
- Previous experience working with K-12 students with visual impairments highly preferred
- Familiarity with IEP processes and documentation
- Strong collaboration skills for working with fellow educators, families, and related service providers
- Adaptable, patient, and passionate about fostering student independence and growth
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver individualized and group instruction to students with visual impairments to support their academic and functional skills
- Modify classroom materials and lessons to ensure accessibility for all learners
- Collaborate with general education teachers and support staff to integrate inclusive strategies
- Participate in IEP meetings and contribute to the development of each student’s educational plan
- Monitor and document student progress, providing regular updates to families and staff
- Advocate for student success within academic and community settings
