This contract opportunity is tailored for an experienced Teacher for the Visually Impaired to work onsite for the upcoming academic year. Serving students in a collaborative educational setting, you’ll bring dedication and specialized skills to create accessible, meaningful learning experiences every day.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Current, active VI Teacher License and MA DOE certification required
- Successful completion of MTELs
- Prior experience teaching students with visual impairments, preferably in a school setting
- Strong knowledge of Braille instruction, assistive technology, and accessible instructional techniques
- Ability to adapt curriculum and materials to meet individual student needs
- Excellent communication skills with students, parents, and interdisciplinary teams
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct instruction and support to students with visual impairments across grade levels
- Collaborate with general and special education staff to develop and implement individualized education programs (IEPs)
- Assess and document student progress, adjusting instructional strategies as needed
- Educate and consult with classroom teachers and staff on best practices for inclusion and accessibility
- Maintain compliance with all state educational regulations and documentation requirements
