Teacher of the Visually Impaired in Lawrence, MA

Qualifications and Experience:

• Current, active VI Teacher License and MA DOE certification required
• Successful completion of MTELs
• Prior experience teaching students with visual impairments, preferably in a school setting
• Strong knowledge of Braille instruction, assistive technology, and accessible instructional techniques
• Ability to adapt curriculum and materials to meet individual student needs
• Excellent communication skills with students, parents, and interdisciplinary teams

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide direct instruction and support to students with visual impairments across grade levels
• Collaborate with general and special education staff to develop and implement individualized education programs (IEPs)
• Assess and document student progress, adjusting instructional strategies as needed
• Educate and consult with classroom teachers and staff on best practices for inclusion and accessibility
• Maintain compliance with all state educational regulations and documentation requirements
