Make an impact supporting students as an educator specializing in visual impairment. This full-time, contract opportunity is available for professionals with expertise in teaching students who are visually impaired. You’ll primarily work onsite, collaborating alongside other educators and specialists in a supportive school environment.
Your assignment includes flexible floating positions, providing the chance to assist with varied student needs as they arise. While the specific caseload hasn’t been determined yet, you’ll be working with students who require specialized instructional strategies and accommodations to reach their educational goals.
Qualifications & Desired Experience:
- Valid certification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI)
- Previous experience teaching or providing support to students with visual impairments
- Thorough knowledge of instructional strategies, adaptive technology, and Braille
- Ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary school teams and families
- Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills
- Commitment to fostering accessible and inclusive learning environments
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver tailored instruction to support the academic, social, and functional needs of students with visual impairments
- Develop and adapt materials, including Braille and large-print resources, to facilitate understanding
- Participate in the development and implementation of individualized education plans (IEPs)
- Consult with classroom teachers and support staff to ensure accommodations and accessibility
- Travel between schools as needed to provide direct service and consultation
