Qualifications & Experience:
- Current and active North Carolina Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) license or certification is required
- Experience teaching or supporting students with visual impairments in a school setting is highly valued
- Strong communication and organizational skills, enabling effective collaboration with educators, families, and multidisciplinary teams
- Ability to assess, plan, and implement individualized instructional strategies for learners with a range of visual needs
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver individualized instruction and accommodations to students with visual impairments (caseload: approximately 20-23 students)
- Conduct assessments and develop goals to meet each student’s unique educational needs
- Consult and collaborate with general education teachers and other staff to support inclusive practices
- Adapt and/or create accessible materials, leveraging assistive technologies as appropriate
- Maintain accurate records, document student progress, and participate in IEP meetings as required
