This contract opportunity offers the chance to work one-on-one and in small groups with a diverse caseload of approximately 20-23 students, providing vital educational access and hands-on support. You’ll collaborate closely with educational teams to help students reach their fullest potential.
Key Qualifications:
- Active North Carolina Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) License/Certifications required
- Prior experience teaching or supporting students with visual impairments in a school setting is highly valued
- Strong communication and collaboration skills with educators, students, and families
- Commitment to individualized education, adapting materials and approaches as student needs demand
- Familiarity with accessible technology and Braille instruction is preferred
Primary Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct instruction to students with visual impairments, adapting curriculum to meet each learner’s unique needs
- Conduct assessments and develop/implement IEPs in partnership with multidisciplinary teams
- Serve as a resource to teachers and staff on best practices and accessible learning materials
- Provide training and support in using assistive devices and accessible technology
- Monitor and document student progress, adjusting teaching methods accordingly
- Consult and coordinate with families regarding goals, progress, and strategies
