You’ll play an integral role, collaborating with staff and families to develop individualized educational plans, support accessible instruction, and advocate for student needs within the school setting. Qualifications & Experience:
- Active Colorado Department of Education certification required
- Completed background check and fingerprinting (district-specific requirements)
- Experience in teaching or supporting visually impaired students in school environments preferred
- Strong communication, organization, and advocacy skills
- Ability to adapt instruction and materials for a variety of age groups and skill levels
- Passion for fostering an inclusive, accessible classroom experience
Responsibilities:
- Provide direct instruction to students with visual impairments, adapting materials and techniques as needed
- Collaborate with classroom teachers, related service providers, and families to develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs)
- Assess and monitor student progress, adjusting support strategies to meet evolving needs
- Serve as a resource on visual impairment, offering guidance on technology, accessibility, and accommodations
- Support school communities in understanding and implementing best practices for students with vision needs
