Key Qualifications:

  • Active Colorado Department of Education certification with a Special Education Specialist – Visual Impairment (ages 0-21) endorsement
  • Master’s degree or higher in special education visual impairment or equivalent
  • Experience with vision-related assessments and individualized education planning
  • Orientation & Mobility Certification preferred but not required
  • Willingness to undergo district-specific background checks and fingerprinting
  • Strong collaborative and communication skills with school staff, students, and families
  • Commitment to fulfilling the entirety of the school-year contract

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Conduct functional vision assessments and Expanded Core Curriculum evaluations for a diverse caseload, spanning from ECE to high school students
  • Develop, implement, and regularly review Individualized Education Programs targeting the specific needs of students with visual impairments
  • Deliver specialized instruction in vision-related skills and academic support, including orientation and mobility as needed
  • Adapt instructional materials and classroom environments to maximize accessibility
  • Provide consultative support to educators, families, and district staff on best practices for learners with visual impairments
  • Maintain accurate documentation and compliance with local and district requirements
  • Perform related duties as assigned, supporting a positive and inclusive educational environment
