Empower students and foster independence as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired in a dynamic school-based environment! A rewarding contract position awaits in the vibrant Lowell, MA area, serving learners who are visually impaired. Flexible full-time or part-time schedules are available, starting September 1st, 2026 and continuing through June 14th, 2027. All instruction and collaboration will be onsite, allowing you to make a direct and meaningful impact every day.

Qualifications:

  • Active Teacher of the Visually Impaired (VI) License
  • Current Massachusetts DESE educator license
  • Success in passing all relevant MTEL exams
  • Experience working with students who are blind or have low vision is highly desirable
  • Ability to provide individualized support and adapt curriculum for accessibility

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver direct instruction to students with visual impairments, K-12, across settings
  • Develop, implement, and track individualized education plans in collaboration with multidisciplinary teams
  • Adapt instructional materials and technology for students’ specific needs, including braille, large print, or tactile graphics
  • Support classroom teachers with strategies, accommodations, and training to promote inclusive learning
  • Monitor student progress and regularly communicate updates and recommendations with families and school personnel
  • Conduct assessments to determine the unique needs and learning modalities for each student
