Key Qualifications:

  • Current certification as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI) is required
  • Proficiency in sign language interpretation strongly preferred
  • Experience working with students across grade levels, particularly in school settings
  • Strong knowledge of instructional strategies and techniques for visually impaired learners
  • Capable of adapting curriculum and teaching methods per district standards

Responsibilities:

  • Provide tailored instructional support to students with visual impairments, ensuring access to the general curriculum
  • Collaborate with teachers, staff, and families to foster inclusive learning
  • Conduct comprehensive assessments to track academic progress utilizing both formal and informal testing tools
  • Prepare for and actively participate in Admission, Review, and Dismissal (ARD) meetings, contributing insights and documentation
  • Maintain accurate student records and adapt plans as needed based on assessment outcomes
  • Serve as an advocate for visually impaired students, creating accessible educational materials and environments
