Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI) | Lutherville Timonium, Maryland

Step into a rewarding role supporting students with visual impairments in an inclusive educational environment. A contract opportunity is available for a dedicated Teacher of the Visually Impaired, supporting Pre-K through 12th-grade students. With a start date of August 13, 2026, and an end date of June 30, 2027 (with potential for summer and school year extension), this position is ideal for professionals who are passionate about making a difference.

You’ll enjoy a varied schedule depending on school hours (options between 7:30-4:00), working approximately 35-40 hours per week with a caseload of about 20-25 students. School assignments will span 12-15 locations, providing a dynamic and engaging work week.

Qualifications & Preferred Experience:

• Maryland teacher certification or licensure with a TVI (Teacher of the Visually Impaired) endorsement required, or eligibility to obtain (assistance available for qualified out-of-state candidates)
• Experience working with students with visual impairments, preferably across early childhood, elementary, and secondary levels
• Strong understanding of IEP development, specially designed instruction, and evaluation processes
• Collaborative skills to work efficiently with general and special education teachers, Braille transcribers, and other TVIs
• Commitment to best practices, accessibility, and advocacy for students with visual impairments

Primary Responsibilities:

• Deliver specially designed instruction according to IEP goals and individualized student needs
• Conduct assessments and participate in IEP development and implementation
• Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams and support staff, including coordinating with Braille Transcribers
• Provide consultation services and contribute to program and process improvements
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation
