Qualifications & Desired Experience:

  • Valid certification in teaching students who are visually impaired
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Special Education or related field preferred
  • Previous experience as a Visually Impaired Teacher or TVI in a K-12 setting is highly valued
  • Understanding of Braille, assistive technologies, and alternate formats for instructional materials
  • Strong collaboration skills to partner with general and special education staff, families, and related service providers
  • Passion for individualized instruction and advocacy for students with visual impairments

Responsibilities & Duties:

  • Deliver direct instruction and consultation tailored to students’ unique learning needs in a school environment
  • Adapt and modify curriculum and classroom materials to ensure accessibility
  • Perform functional vision assessments and contribute to educational planning (IEPs, 504s)
  • Train staff and collaborate with educators on best practices for inclusion
  • Support students’ orientation and mobility skills as needed
  • Communicate progress with parents, building strong family partnerships
