Qualifications & Desired Experience:
- Valid certification in teaching students who are visually impaired
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Special Education or related field preferred
- Previous experience as a Visually Impaired Teacher or TVI in a K-12 setting is highly valued
- Understanding of Braille, assistive technologies, and alternate formats for instructional materials
- Strong collaboration skills to partner with general and special education staff, families, and related service providers
- Passion for individualized instruction and advocacy for students with visual impairments
Responsibilities & Duties:
- Deliver direct instruction and consultation tailored to students’ unique learning needs in a school environment
- Adapt and modify curriculum and classroom materials to ensure accessibility
- Perform functional vision assessments and contribute to educational planning (IEPs, 504s)
- Train staff and collaborate with educators on best practices for inclusion
- Support students’ orientation and mobility skills as needed
- Communicate progress with parents, building strong family partnerships
