A contract opportunity is available for an experienced Teacher for the Visually Impaired to work with schools located near the Manchester, MI area. Your expertise will help students achieve their full potential in an inclusive learning environment.

In this position, you will work 2 days per week during the 2026/2027 school year, with the possibility for additional days as needed. Your skills and compassion will enrich the educational journey for visually impaired learners, empowering them with skills to thrive.

Qualifications & Desired Experience:

  • Certification as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI)
  • Experience developing and implementing Individualized Education Plans (IEPs)
  • Strong communication skills to collaborate with staff, students, and families
  • Ability to adapt teaching methods to meet diverse student needs
  • Previous experience in a school setting preferred

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct instruction to students with visual impairments, adapting curriculum materials as necessary
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers and other professionals to support inclusive educational practices
  • Assess student needs and progress, keeping accurate records and contributing to IEP meetings
  • Promote the use of accessible technology and resources to enhance student learning
  • Serve as a knowledgeable resource for parents and school faculty regarding best practices for students with visual impairments
