Desired Qualifications:

  • Valid certification as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired
  • Experience working with K-12 students with visual impairments in school settings
  • Understanding of vision-related adaptations and assistive technology
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills with multidisciplinary teams, students, and families
  • Ability to develop and implement individualized education programs (IEPs)
  • Organizational skills to manage caseload, documentation, and resources efficiently

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver direct and consultative services to students with visual impairments in accordance with IEP goals
  • Create and adapt instructional materials using braille, large print, or other accessible formats as required
  • Collaborate with general education teachers to support classroom modifications and student success
  • Conduct assessments to determine students’ functional vision and orientation/mobility needs
  • Maintain detailed records, progress reports, and necessary documentation
  • Serve as a resource for staff and families, providing training on visual impairment strategies and technologies
