Qualifications and Experience:

  • Certified Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI) or eligibility for appropriate state licensure
  • Experience working with middle and high school students preferred
  • Comprehensive knowledge of braille, assistive technology, and adaptive teaching methodologies
  • Strong communication skills for effective collaboration with students, families, and multidisciplinary teams
  • Patience, creativity, and dedication to supporting diverse learning needs

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement individualized educational plans (IEPs) based on each student’s unique needs
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers to adapt instruction and ensure accessibility of curriculum materials
  • Instruct students in the use of braille, tactile graphics, and assistive technology tools
  • Monitor and document student progress while providing regular updates to parents and stakeholders
  • Advocate for students’ needs and promote self-advocacy and independence skills
  • Participate in IEP meetings, professional development, and ongoing training as needed
