Qualifications and Experience:
- Credentialed as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired or eligible for relevant certification
- Previous experience working with children or adolescents with visual impairments in educational settings
- Strong knowledge of Braille, assistive technology, and specialized instructional strategies
- Ability to develop and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs)
- Collaborative approach when working with multidisciplinary teams, students, and families
- Organizational skills and adaptability for managing diverse caseloads
- Commitment to fostering inclusive and accessible learning environments
Core Responsibilities:
- Provide individualized and group instruction to students with visual impairments, adapting lessons for accessibility
- Assess students’ needs and monitor progress to ensure educational goals are met
- Collaborate with general education staff, related service providers, and families for consistent support
- Create accessible materials using Braille, audio, and tactile resources
- Consult and train school personnel on strategies and tools for supporting visually impaired learners
- Participate in IEP meetings, contributing expert input on student accommodations and modifications
- Maintain accurate records of student progress and program documentation
