Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Active Massachusetts Visually Impaired Teacher License
  • Demonstrated experience or coursework in education for students with visual impairments
  • Strong knowledge of Braille and adaptive technologies
  • Ability to collaborate with classroom teachers, families, and support staff
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills
  • Flexibility to tailor instructional plans to meet individual student needs

Responsibilities:

  • Design and deliver individualized instruction to students with visual impairments in accordance with IEPs
  • Provide Braille instruction and orientation/mobility training as needed
  • Adapt curriculum materials and create accessible classroom resources
  • Assess student progress and modify approaches based on ongoing evaluation
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure holistic student support
  • Offer guidance and support for families and general education teachers
  • Maintain clear documentation and participate in appropriate professional development
