In this dynamic position, you’ll have the opportunity to create accessible learning environments and support K-12 students with visual impairments as they navigate their educational journey. Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams to adapt curriculum, deliver specialized instruction, and promote independence for your students both in and out of the classroom.
Qualifications and Required Experience:
- Current Massachusetts Visually Impaired License is required
- Previous experience working with students who are visually impaired is highly valued
- Solid understanding of accessible educational tools, assistive technology, and adaptive strategies
- Strong communication and collaboration skills for engaging with students, families, and school staff
- Flexibility and creativity in delivering instruction tailored to individual needs
Responsibilities:
- Provide direct instruction to students with visual impairments according to Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
- Adapt curriculum materials and classroom environments for accessibility
- Conduct assessments to determine student needs and recommend accommodations
- Collaborate with general education teachers and related service providers to ensure inclusion
- Participate in IEP meetings and contribute to student goal setting and progress monitoring
- Provide guidance on the use of assistive technology and orientation/mobility strategies
