Step into a vital role supporting students as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired for the 2026-2027 school year! This full-time, itinerant contract opportunity involves working directly with learners in a dynamic, in-person environment, with openness to hybrid scheduling based on school needs. You'll play an essential part in fostering independence and a love of learning for students with visual impairments.

Your expertise will guide the customization of educational strategies, helping learners access curriculum, develop essential life skills, and thrive academically and socially. You'll collaborate with educators, specialists, and families, ensuring every student’s unique needs are met through innovative and accessible teaching.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Current Washington Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) licensure required
  • Prior experience as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired or similar role preferred
  • Strong knowledge of adaptive technologies, Braille, and accessible instructional strategies
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills for engaging with students, staff, and families
  • Willingness to travel locally to multiple school sites as part of an itinerant assignment
  • Commitment to creating inclusive and supportive classroom settings

What You’ll Do:

  • Deliver individualized instruction for students with visual impairments in accordance with IEPs
  • Adapt curriculum and materials to ensure accessibility and full participation
  • Assess student progress and adjust strategies to promote independence and growth
  • Guide and consult with general educators and support staff
  • Communicate with families, providing updates and resources for home support
  • Participate in IEP meetings and multidisciplinary team collaborations
