Key Qualifications:
- Valid State Certification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI)
- Experience working with students who are blind or have low vision in educational settings
- Strong understanding of adaptive technologies, Braille, and other specialized instructional strategies
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills with teachers, families, and support staff
- Flexibility and adaptability in a school environment
- Ability to develop Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) and monitor student progress
Primary Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct and consultative services to students with visual impairments according to IEP guidelines
- Modify general education curriculum and materials to meet the unique needs of each student
- Collaborate with general education teachers, related service providers, and administrators
- Conduct assessments and interpret evaluation data to inform instructional planning
- Teach students to use assistive technology including Braillewriters, magnifiers, and screen readers
- Provide ongoing support and training for staff and families
