Key Qualifications:

  • Valid certification as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI)
  • Experience working with K-12 students who are visually impaired
  • Knowledge of adaptive technologies, Braille, and accessible curriculum modifications
  • Strong communication skills and a compassionate, student-centered approach
  • Ability to provide direct, in-person instruction in a home setting (no remote or teletherapy options)
  • Reliable transportation and flexibility to travel to students’ homes as needed

Core Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver effective, individualized instruction to students with visual impairments, fostering their academic and functional independence
  • Conduct two in-home sessions per month (one hour per session) for an initial student assignment
  • Collaborate with parents, educational teams, and related service providers to monitor progress and adjust teaching strategies as needed
  • Create customized lesson plans and adapt curricular materials to ensure accessibility and engagement
  • Document student progress and maintain accurate records according to program and regulatory requirements
  • Be adaptable to increases in caseload and hours as student needs grow in the coming weeks
