Key Qualifications:

• Valid licensure/certification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI)
• Experience designing and implementing IEPs for visually impaired students
• Skilled in Braille, assistive technology, and adaptive materials
• Strong communication and collaboration abilities with students, families, and multidisciplinary teams
• Proficiency in tracking student progress and adjusting instructional methods
• Recent experience in a school-based setting is highly valued

Primary Responsibilities:

• Provide direct and consultative services for K-12 students with visual impairments
• Adapt curriculum, materials, and assessments to ensure accessibility
• Teach assistive technology, orientation and mobility skills, and self-advocacy
• Collaborate with educators, therapists, and family members to support student success
• Conduct functional vision assessments and contribute to multidisciplinary evaluations
• Maintain accurate records while staying compliant with state and federal special education regulations
• Participate in IEP meetings and assist with transition planning
