Key Qualifications:
- Valid licensure/certification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI)
- Experience designing and implementing IEPs for visually impaired students
- Skilled in Braille, assistive technology, and adaptive materials
- Strong communication and collaboration abilities with students, families, and multidisciplinary teams
- Proficiency in tracking student progress and adjusting instructional methods
- Recent experience in a school-based setting is highly valued
Primary Responsibilities:
- Provide direct and consultative services for K-12 students with visual impairments
- Adapt curriculum, materials, and assessments to ensure accessibility
- Teach assistive technology, orientation and mobility skills, and self-advocacy
- Collaborate with educators, therapists, and family members to support student success
- Conduct functional vision assessments and contribute to multidisciplinary evaluations
- Maintain accurate records while staying compliant with state and federal special education regulations
- Participate in IEP meetings and assist with transition planning
