Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI) | Memphis, Tennessee

Qualifications & Desired Experience:

• State licensure or eligibility as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired
• Previous experience in school settings preferred, but strong recent graduates encouraged to apply
• Proficiency in Braille, assistive technology, and adaptive devices
• Strong communication, consultation, and teamwork skills
• Ability to collaborate with students, families, and multidisciplinary teams
• Experience developing and implementing IEPs for visually impaired students

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver specialized instruction to students with visual impairments, both individually and in groups
• Assess student needs and adapt curriculum and materials for accessibility
• Collaborate with general and special education teachers to modify classroom activities
• Monitor progress, contribute to IEP meetings, and maintain accurate documentation
• Provide guidance and training on assistive technology and low vision devices
• Serve as a resource for family members and school staff
