This opportunity is for a dedicated Visually Impaired Teacher position based in Memphis, TN. The role involves working in a school setting on a contract basis, supporting students with visual impairments to achieve their academic and developmental goals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to students’ visual impairment needs
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers, families, and support staff to ensure accessibility and inclusivity
  • Provide direct instruction in orientation and mobility, assistive technology, and braille literacy as appropriate
  • Assess student progress and adjust instructional strategies accordingly
  • Participate in professional development and team meetings to enhance service delivery

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Valid teaching licensure with endorsements or certification for visual impairment education
  • Experience working with students who are visually impaired or blind in an educational setting
  • Strong knowledge of braille, assistive technology, and orientation and mobility techniques
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
