You’ll have the opportunity to empower learners and collaborate with educational teams in a supportive school environment near Mesa, AZ. Qualifications:

  • Valid state licensure/certification as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired
  • Experience teaching students who are visually impaired in school settings
  • Strong understanding of Braille, adaptive technology, and accessible instructional materials
  • Ability to develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills with families, staff, and other service providers

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design individualized lesson plans and adapt general curriculum for students with visual impairments
  • Provide direct instruction in areas such as Braille reading and writing, orientation, and mobility
  • Assist with transition planning and independence skills for students at various grade levels
  • Collaborate closely with classroom teachers, paraprofessionals, and other special education staff
  • Consult with school teams to ensure environments and materials are accessible
  • Maintain thorough records and participate in IEP meetings and assessments
