Teacher of Visually Impaired - Mesquite, TX

A full-time opportunity is available for a dedicated Teacher for the Visually Impaired, working throughout several campuses within a supportive and collaborative setting. This contract position begins July 30, 2026, and extends through May 28, 2027, offering the chance to make a lasting impact as part of a dynamic educational team.

In this role, you’ll provide direct instructional support and adaptive strategies for a diverse caseload of 12-15 students, including some homebound learners. This position follows an itinerant model, serving approximately six campuses, and requires adaptability as student assignments may evolve during the school year.

Qualifications:

• Active Texas State Visually Impaired (TSVI) licensure required
• Prior experience teaching students with visual impairments in a school setting strongly preferred
• Capability to serve both school-based and homebound students
• Strong interpersonal, communication, and collaboration skills
• Excellent organization and reliability, capable of managing a dynamic caseload

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide individualized instruction and support based on student needs
• Collaborate with general and special education teachers and support staff
• Participate in developing and implementing IEPs
• Adapt curriculum and materials for accessibility
• Communicate regularly with families and document student progress
• Travel among assigned campuses and to homebound students as scheduled
• Remain flexible as caseload and campus assignments may shift
