Key Qualifications:
- Valid VI Teacher License (Visually Impaired Teacher)
- Active Massachusetts DOE certification required
- Must have successfully passed the MTELs
- Demonstrated experience teaching, supporting, or advocating for students with visual impairments
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to adapt instructional materials for a variety of student needs
- Commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive classroom environment
Responsibilities:
- Deliver specialized instruction to students with visual impairments, implementing IEPs and individualized strategies
- Collaborate with general education teachers, related service providers, and families to support students’ needs
- Assess, develop, and adapt materials and classroom settings to ensure accessibility
- Participate in team meetings and contribute to progress monitoring and reporting
- Remain knowledgeable about current best practices, assistive technology, and resources relevant to visual impairment education
- Provide consultation and training to staff as appropriate
