Teacher for the Visually Impaired | Methuen, Massachusetts

Key Qualifications:

• Valid VI Teacher License (Visually Impaired Teacher)
• Active Massachusetts DOE certification required
• Must have successfully passed the MTELs
• Demonstrated experience teaching, supporting, or advocating for students with visual impairments
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Ability to adapt instructional materials for a variety of student needs
• Commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive classroom environment

Responsibilities:

• Deliver specialized instruction to students with visual impairments, implementing IEPs and individualized strategies
• Collaborate with general education teachers, related service providers, and families to support students’ needs
• Assess, develop, and adapt materials and classroom settings to ensure accessibility
• Participate in team meetings and contribute to progress monitoring and reporting
• Remain knowledgeable about current best practices, assistive technology, and resources relevant to visual impairment education
• Provide consultation and training to staff as appropriate
