Embark on a rewarding summer assignment supporting students as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired within a dynamic and inclusive setting for learners with significant behavioral and physical needs. This contract opportunity allows you to make a substantial difference in a well-resourced educational environment from June 8, 2026, through July 16, 2026.
In this specialized role, you will provide direct and consultative services to a caseload of 10-15 students, housed within a single educational building. The summer schedule is part-time: Monday through Thursday, 8:45 am to 12:45 pm (20 hours per week), leaving your afternoons and weekends free.
Key Qualifications & Experience:
- Valid certification as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI/BVI)
- Experience working with students with significant behavioral and/or physical disabilities, preferably in similar settings
- Strong collaboration and communication skills to work with multidisciplinary teams
- Understanding of setting 4 district environments or comparable educational settings
- Commitment to inclusive practices and individualized instruction
Primary Responsibilities:
- Deliver specialized instruction to students with visual impairments, adapting materials and teaching strategies as needed
- Work closely with educational staff and families to develop and implement IEPs
- Conduct assessments to determine students’ needs and progress
- Support classroom staff with instructional strategies and accessibility
- Foster a positive, safe, and responsive learning environment that meets each student’s unique needs
