An exciting contract opportunity is available for a Braille-fluent educator ready to make a profound impact on the educational journey of a high school student. This position is ideal for experienced Braillists, Teachers for the Visually Impaired, skilled paraprofessionals, or qualified SLIs who have the passion and ability to teach braille. The assignment is conveniently situated near Mojave, CA, and runs throughout the 26/27 school year, from August 13, 2026, to June 11, 2027.

The role involves working directly, one-on-one, with a high school male student who is low cognition and in the process of learning braille. Your expertise will empower him to build essential life and academic skills in a supportive educational environment.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Proficiency in braille instruction
  • Experience teaching or supporting students with visual impairments
  • Background as a Braillist, Teacher for the Visually Impaired, paraprofessional, or SLI with braille teaching capabilities
  • Ability to adapt teaching strategies for students with low cognition
  • Strong communication skills and a compassionate, patient demeanor
  • Reliability and commitment to the full academic year

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver individualized braille instruction tailored to the student's learning needs
  • Support the student's progress in literacy and daily functional skills
  • Collaborate with other educational professionals and family members
  • Track and report on student progress regularly
  • Foster an encouraging, inclusive learning environment

This 30-hour per week contract allows you to focus intensively on meaningful instruction while making a lasting difference in a student's life.
