What We’re Looking For:
- Valid South Carolina teaching certificate with a Visual Impairment Endorsement
- Previous experience working with K-12 students with visual impairments preferred
- Strong understanding of Braille, assistive technology, and adaptive instructional materials
- Ability to travel between assigned schools within the district as needed
- Excellent communication skills working with students, families, and fellow educators
- Organizational skills for managing multiple caseloads and locations
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide direct instructional services to students with visual impairments across various district schools
- Collaborate with classroom teachers, counselors, and other specialists to support inclusive education
- Conduct functional vision assessments and contribute to IEP development
- Recommend and assist with appropriate adaptive technology and materials
- Facilitate accessibility and engagement in the general education curriculum
- Offer consultation and training for staff and families to improve student outcomes
- Travel as needed between school sites on a weekly basis
