What We’re Looking For:

  • Valid South Carolina teaching certificate with a Visual Impairment Endorsement
  • Previous experience working with K-12 students with visual impairments preferred
  • Strong understanding of Braille, assistive technology, and adaptive instructional materials
  • Ability to travel between assigned schools within the district as needed
  • Excellent communication skills working with students, families, and fellow educators
  • Organizational skills for managing multiple caseloads and locations

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct instructional services to students with visual impairments across various district schools
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers, counselors, and other specialists to support inclusive education
  • Conduct functional vision assessments and contribute to IEP development
  • Recommend and assist with appropriate adaptive technology and materials
  • Facilitate accessibility and engagement in the general education curriculum
  • Offer consultation and training for staff and families to improve student outcomes
  • Travel as needed between school sites on a weekly basis
