Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI) | Monterey, California

Make a difference by supporting students with visual impairments throughout an entire school year in a full-time, in-person contract role. Your expertise as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired will help foster a positive, inclusive learning environment for students who require specialized instruction and support.

Key Qualifications:

• Valid teaching certification in Visual Impairment or eligibility to obtain certification.
• Proven experience working as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired or in a similar role.
• Knowledge of Braille, assistive technology, and adaptive instructional strategies.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with students, families, and educational staff.
• Commitment to creating and maintaining a supportive learning environment that meets the diverse needs of visually impaired learners.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide direct instruction to students with visual impairments based on individualized education plans (IEPs).
• Collaborate closely with classroom teachers, special education team members, and related service providers.
• Develop and adapt lesson plans, materials, and assessments to support accessibility and maximize student engagement.
• Conduct student assessments and participate in IEP meetings to recommend goals and accommodations.
• Train staff and peers in methods of inclusion and accessibility.
• Maintain accurate documentation of progress, interventions, and services provided.
