Ideal Candidates Will Have:

  • Valid certification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI)
  • Experience working with students who are blind or have low vision in educational settings
  • Ability to adapt and modify curriculum and materials for visual accessibility
  • Strong communication skills to effectively consult with teachers, staff, and families
  • Understanding of assistive technology and tools for visually impaired students
  • Patience, creativity, and dedication to individualized instruction

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Delivering direct instruction to K-12 students with visual impairments, according to Individualized Education Plans (IEPs)
  • Evaluating student needs and progress while tracking and documenting growth
  • Recommending and implementing appropriate accommodations, modifications, and assistive devices
  • Coordinating with general educators and support staff to create accessible classroom experiences
  • Providing guidance and resources to families to support learning at home
  • Attending relevant meetings and contributing to the IEP process for each student
