Empower students to reach their full potential by supporting learners as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired in a dynamic school environment near Monument, NM. As a skilled educator, you'll play a pivotal role in delivering specialized instruction and accommodations, helping visually impaired students thrive academically and socially.
Key Qualifications:
- Valid certification as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI)
- Experience working with students who have visual impairments in K-12 settings
- Solid understanding of Braille instruction, assistive technology, and adaptive equipment
- Able to develop and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs)
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills with educators, families, and support staff
- Flexible, organized, and passionate about inclusive education
- Comfortable working in a contract-based role for the duration of the school year
Primary Responsibilities:
- Provide direct instruction in core academic subjects, compensatory skills, and orientation & mobility as needed
- Adapt teaching materials and methods to meet individualized student needs
- Conduct functional vision assessments and contribute to IEP development and progress monitoring
- Collaborate with general education teachers and related service providers to create accessible learning environments
- Guide students in the use of assistive technology and specialized learning devices
- Engage in ongoing communication with parents and guardians regarding student progress
