Key Qualifications:

  • Valid certification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI)
  • Previous experience working with visually impaired students in a school setting is highly valued
  • Strong understanding of Braille, assistive technology, and adaptive educational materials
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills with students, families, and educational teams
  • Ability to adapt instruction based on individual student needs and IEP goals

Responsibilities:

  • Provide specialized instruction and support to visually impaired students across a diverse caseload
  • Assess students’ strengths and needs, and develop individualized lesson plans in accordance with IEP requirements
  • Introduce and train students on the use of assistive technology and adaptive devices
  • Consult and collaborate with general education teachers, staff, and administrators to facilitate an inclusive environment
  • Maintain accurate documentation and progress monitoring in compliance with state and district standards
  • Participate in multi-disciplinary meetings and family conferences as needed
