Make a meaningful difference supporting students as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired in an itinerant, contract position for the 2026-2027 school year. This full-time, in-person role offers the possibility of a hybrid schedule, providing valuable support to schools in and around the Moses Lake, WA area. You will empower students by delivering specialized instruction, collaborating with educational teams, and fostering inclusive learning environments.
Qualifications & Experience Sought:
- Current, valid WA TVI licensure required
- Demonstrated knowledge of best practices for teaching children with visual impairments
- Experience working in school-based settings highly valued
- Comfortable traveling between sites (itinerant schedule)
- Strong interpersonal and communication abilities for effective collaboration with staff and families
- Skilled in adapting curriculum materials and utilizing assistive technologies
- Organized, self-motivated, and flexible approach
Role Responsibilities:
- Provide direct instruction and support to students with visual impairments, adapting materials and methods as needed
- Conduct functional vision and learning media assessments
- Collaborate closely with general and special educators, support staff, and families to develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs)
- Consult with educational teams to promote accessibility and inclusion within the classroom environment
- Offer guidance and training for staff on best practices and use of adaptive tools
- Travel between schools as an itinerant teacher, managing your schedule within the school calendar
- Document student progress and maintain compliance with all district and state requirements
