As a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI), you will guide and empower students, fostering both academic achievement and independence. Qualifications:
- Valid certification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired.
- Previous experience working with students who have visual impairments in a school setting.
- Strong collaboration skills to work effectively with multidisciplinary teams, families, and support staff.
- Ability to adapt curriculum and classroom materials for accessibility.
- Excellent communication, organization, and documentation abilities.
- Flexibility and enthusiasm for problem-solving in dynamic educational settings.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with visual impairments.
- Adapt and modify instructional materials using braille, large print, tactile graphics, and assistive technology.
- Collaborate with classroom teachers to support inclusive instruction and provide direct and consultative services.
- Assess students' progress and adjust interventions as needed to promote success across academic and functional areas.
- Offer guidance and training for staff and families on accommodations and specialized equipment.
- Create a supportive environment that encourages independence and self-advocacy among students.
