Key Qualifications:

• State teaching certification as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI) or eligibility to obtain it
• Experience working with children or adolescents who are visually impaired, preferably in a school setting
• Strong understanding of Braille, assistive technology, and adaptive strategies for visual impairments
• Ability to develop and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs)
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills with students, families, and multidisciplinary teams
• Flexibility and creative problem-solving to adapt materials and teaching methods

Primary Responsibilities:

• Deliver direct instruction and specialized support in core subjects and compensatory skills to students with visual impairments
• Adapt curriculum materials and classroom environments for accessibility
• Conduct formal and informal functional vision assessments
• Collaborate with classroom teachers and related service personnel to ensure effective inclusion
• Train staff and families on assistive technology and Braille, as needed
• Participate in IEP meetings, progress monitoring, and required documentation
• Advocate for students’ needs and foster self-advocacy skills in learners
