This part-time, itinerant position will allow you to work across both elementary and middle school settings, helping students achieve their fullest potential throughout the 2026-2027 academic year.
Key Qualifications:
- Valid Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with a Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI) endorsement
- Experience working as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired, preferably within school environments
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, able to partner effectively with students, staff, and families
- Flexibility to work in multiple school sites as required
- Commitment to fostering an inclusive, supportive educational experience for students with visual impairments
Primary Responsibilities:
- Provide direct and consultative services to meet the individual needs of students from elementary through middle school
- Collaborate with general education teachers, special education staff, and related service providers to ensure appropriate accommodations and modifications
- Develop and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) in alignment with student goals and state standards
- Adapt instructional materials and facilitate access to technology for visually impaired students
- Offer training and support to instructional staff and families to promote student independence
