Key Qualifications:

  • Current certification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI)
  • Experience working with children in educational settings, preferably in schools
  • Strong knowledge of Braille, assistive technology, and adaptive strategies for visually impaired students
  • Ability to develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
  • Organizational skills to manage caseloads, documentation, and progress tracking

Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct instruction and support to students with visual impairments, both individually and in groups
  • Assess students’ functional vision and learning needs
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers, related service providers, and parents to support students’ academic and functional goals
  • Modify curriculum materials and classroom environments to promote accessibility and inclusion
  • Train staff and students in the use of specialized technology and learning resources
  • Participate in IEP meetings and contribute to educational planning and goal setting
