Qualifications & Experience:

  • Valid certification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI)
  • Previous experience working with students who are visually impaired, preferably in a school setting
  • Strong communication skills for collaborating with students, families, and multidisciplinary teams
  • Knowledge of Braille, assistive technology, and adaptive tools for visually impaired learners
  • Creative, flexible approach to lesson planning and adapting curriculum
  • Patient, positive attitude and a passion for tailoring support to individual student needs

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) based on each student’s abilities and goals
  • Teach Braille, assistive technology, orientation and mobility skills, and other core concepts
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers to modify and adapt lesson materials
  • Advocate for students’ needs and ensure accessibility to the wider school environment
  • Serve as a supportive resource for parents, staff, and the school community
  • Track progress and maintain accurate records for compliance and student growth
