Key Qualifications:
- Valid certification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI)
- Experience working in an educational setting, preferably with K-12 students
- Familiarity with Braille, large print, and assistive technology for the visually impaired
- Strong communication skills for collaborating with staff, families, and related service providers
- Compassionate approach and creative problem-solving abilities
Primary Responsibilities:
- Develop and adapt lesson materials tailored for visually impaired students
- Provide specialized instruction and one-on-one support in academic subjects and orientation/mobility skills
- Perform assessments to determine students’ educational needs, strengths, and areas for growth
- Collaborate with classroom teachers to implement accommodations and modifications in the general education curriculum
- Participate in IEP meetings and provide input for individualized education plans
- Offer guidance and resources to families to help students achieve greater independence
