• Certification or licensure as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI)
• Experience working with visually impaired students across a range of ages and abilities
• Knowledge of Braille, assistive technology, and adaptive instructional materials
• Strong communication skills to interact compassionately with students, teachers, and families
• Organizational skills and adaptability in managing diverse caseloads and delivering individualized education plans (IEPs)
• Enthusiasm for staying current in best practices for visual impairment education and ongoing professional development

Responsibilities:

• Develop and deliver tailored instruction to students with visual impairments, ensuring IEP goals are met
• Adapt curriculum materials and teach Braille, orientation and mobility skills, as well as the use of assistive technology
• Collaborate with classroom teachers, staff, and parents to embed accommodations and foster inclusive learning experiences
• Assess student progress and promptly adjust instructional strategies to meet evolving needs
• Advocate for students’ access to instructional materials and promote their independence within the school community
• Participate in IEP meetings, team conferences, and professional learning opportunities
