Preferred Qualifications and Experience:
- Valid state certification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI)
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Special Education, Visual Impairment, or a related field
- Experience with braille instruction, assistive technology, and accessible curriculum resources
- Familiarity with IEP development, implementation, and progress monitoring
- Strong communication and collaboration skills for working with students, educators, and families
- Dedication to fostering an inclusive and engaging learning environment
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct instruction to students with visual impairments in both individual and group settings
- Assess students’ needs and adapt instructional materials to enhance accessibility
- Develop and implement appropriate accommodations and modifications for classroom activities
- Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and contribute to IEP planning and reviews
- Provide support and resources to classroom teachers and staff regarding best practices for students with visual impairments
- Maintain comprehensive documentation and timely communication with families
