Make an impact supporting students as a Visually Impaired Teacher on a contract assignment near Newburgh, IN. In this role, you will empower students with visual impairments to excel in their learning environment by delivering tailored instruction and collaborating closely with educators and families.
Desired Qualifications:
- Valid teaching certification for Visually Impaired in the state or eligibility to obtain
- Previous experience working with students with visual impairments, preferably in a school setting
- Strong understanding of assistive technology for the visually impaired
- Skilled in Braille instruction and adaptive educational methods
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational abilities
- Compassionate and dedicated to student growth and inclusion
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with visual impairments
- Provide direct instruction and support to help students access curriculum and participate fully in classroom activities
- Consult regularly with classroom teachers, paraprofessionals, and other specialists to ensure accessibility and appropriate modifications
- Train students, families, and staff in the use of adaptive devices and technology
- Maintain accurate records and progress reports in compliance with all state and federal requirements
- Advocate for student needs by participating in IEP meetings and multidisciplinary team discussions
