Key Qualifications:

  • Active certification in Visual Impairment (TVI) or eligibility for Georgia certification
  • Solid understanding of Braille, assistive technology, and orientation and mobility techniques
  • Previous experience as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired in school settings
  • Strong communication, organization, and documentation abilities
  • Capability to effectively collaborate with administrators, staff, families, and outside agencies

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) tailored for students with visual impairments
  • Provide direct instruction in core academics, Braille literacy, and assistive technology
  • Support students' independence and social-emotional skills through tailored resources and strategies
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers and related service providers to adapt curriculum materials and environments
  • Conduct ongoing assessments to monitor progress and adjust instructional plans as needed
  • Offer training and consultation to staff and families on best practices for supporting students who are visually impaired
  • Ensure compliance with all state and federal regulations regarding special education services
